About us

Who are we?

The Global Rights Alliance is an innovative international human rights project spanning 20+ countries that leverages digital media and live events to empower the next generation of human rights advocates with the tools, community, and support they need to drive meaningful global change.

At the Global Rights Alliance, our mission is to empower the next generation of human rights advocates by building a bold, connected global community. While other human rights organisations ask members to support their work, we make supporting our members the foundation of everything we do.

Our vision is to create an inclusive global community of passionate young human rights defenders, empowered to create meaningful change both locally and globally. We strive to build a more inclusive human rights movement and ignite the world’s first truly global human rights culture.

Our Founder and story

The Global Rights Alliance was founded in 2025 by Eltayeb Bashar, an international human rights law masters student. Deeply affected by the 2023 Sudanese civil war, which forced his extended family to flee the country, he grew frustrated by the lack of human rights organisations centering young advocates in their response. He wanted to change that but didn’t know how.

On November 21, 2024, he put his studies on hold to attend a Model United Nations conference at UNESCO Paris. Inspired by the collaboration between hundreds of student delegates from around the world and the guidance of UN officials, he envisioned a new kind of movement: a global community where young human rights advocates are not just included, but empowered to lead.
