On the 4th of June, we hosted a humanitarian panel that explored human rights advocacy through the lens of personal and professional experience.
Opened by our founder, Eltayeb Bashar and hosted by Event Director, Hadil, the discussion featured:
Dr David Nicholl – Neurologist and activist, who shared insights from his healthcare advocacy, including work campaigning against the violations of health standards in Guantanamo Bay and the Syrian civil war.
Mr Aziz Mowahed – Professor and former NATO cultural advisor, presented on international humanitarian law and the role of the Red Cross in armed conflict.
Mr Kyamoneka Mpey Benjamin – Human rights advocate, spoke on the impact of conflict on indigenous communities in Eastern DR Congo and the need for intersectional approaches to justice.
Each speaker brought a unique lens, reminding us that human rights advocacy is strengthened by diversity and livea experience. We thank them for their contributions and are excited to build on this experience to make human rights discussions more accessible and inclusive.
